May is for Katie’s Fund!
is the month of our annual Katie’s Fund Appeal. Katie’s Fund, established in
1997 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Women of the ELCA,
generates income for Women of the ELCA ministries that develop leaders, bridge
cultures and nurture faith.
We’ve pulled together some ideas that you
can use in celebrating Katie’s Fund this month.
- At an event or regular meeting this month, talk
about Katharina von Bora Luther and explain how Katie’s Fund supports
Women of the ELCA ministries. Take up a special offering for the fun.
- Invite your women’s group or your whole
congregation to give to Katie’s Fund in honor of someone on Mother’s Day
or in honor of someone’s graduation this spring.
- Ask your women’s group to give to Katie’s Fund in
honor of each of the young women who are being confirmed in your
congregation this spring.
- Instead of taking up an offering, designate a
gift in your annual budget for Katie’s Fund. If your financial calendar
year ends soon, consider giving any leftover funds to Katie’s Fund.
- Plan to hold a Saturday retreat this summer using
the three-part summer Bible study in Gather magazine (or one of the resources available at womenoftheelca.org). During the lunch hour, take
up a special offering for Katie’s Fund.
- If you are unable to arrange a special offering
this spring or summer, consider taking up a special offering for Katie’s
Fund this fall. While the annual appeal for Katie’s Fund takes place each
May, a gift to Katie’s Fund can be used at any time!

offering, contact the ELCA Resource Catalog online (there’s a link on our
