KATIE'S FUND

Katie’s Fund was established in 1997 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Women of the ELCA and is now celebrated annually in May. During that month, many congregations will hold fund drives to help generate income for Women of the ELCA ministries that develop leaders, bridge cultures and nurture faith.

We’ve pulled together some program ideas to accompany your fundraising:

  • At an event or regular meeting this month (May), talk about Katharina von Bora Luther and explain how Katie’s Fund supports Women of the ELCA ministries. Take a special offering for Katie's Fund.

  • Invite your women’s group or congregation to give to Katie’s Fund in honor of someone on Mother’s Day or in honor of someone’s graduation this spring.

  • Ask your women’s group to give to Katie’s Fund in honor of each of the young women who are being confirmed in your congregation this spring.

  • Instead of taking up an offering, designate a gift in your annual budget for Katie’s Fund. If your financial calendar year ends soon, consider giving any leftover funds to Katie’s Fund.

  • Plan to hold a Saturday retreat this summer using the three-part summer Bible study in Gather magazine. During the lunch hour, take up a special offering for Katie’s Fund.

  • Although the annual appeal for Katie’s Fund takes place each May, a gift to Katie’s Fund can be made at any time throughout the year!

If you need envelopes for a special offering, contact the ELCA Resource Catalog online or call 800-638-3522, ext. 2580. Have questions about Katie’s Fund? Call Emma Crossen, director for stewardship at 800-638-3522, ext. 2736.
